Director of Bands
Roderick Little serves as Assistant Professor of Music - Director of Bands. He received his Bachelors, Masters in Music Education and Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education Administration from Jackson State University.
Associate Director of Bands - Chief Arranger
Kevan Johnson serves as Instructor of Music - Associate Band Director/Chief Arranger. He received his B.M.E from Jackson. State University and his M.S. in Music Technology from Indiana University – Purdue University.
Associate Director of Bands - Director of Wind Ensemble
Lowell Hollinger serves as Assistant Professor of Music - Associate Director of Bands- Director of Wind Ensemble. He received the B.S. degree in Biology and a B.M. from Jackson State University. He also earned the Master of Music degree in Clarinet. Performance from Louisiana State University.
Assistant Band Director
Brandon Jenkins serves as Instructor of Music - Assistant Band Director. received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Winston-Salem State University (North Carolina) and a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from Messiah University (Mechanicsburg, PA).
Assistant Band Director - Marketing and Media
Ramon Jackson serves as Instructor of Music - Assistant Band Director - Marketing and Media. He received his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Music Education from Jackson State University, DMA in Instrumental Pedagogy from the American Conservatory in Chicago, IL.
Prancing J-Settes Director
Chloé Ashley Crowley serves as the Prancing J-Settes Director. She graduated from Jackson State University with a Bachelor's degree in economics and a master’s degree in dance education from New York University.
Band Operations/Logistics Coordinator
Courtney Lett serves as the Band Operations/Logistics Coordinator of the Sonic Boom of the South Marching Band. In this capacity, Courtney serves as a liaison between on-campus departments, booking agencies, and external agents.
The Support Staff
Retention and Compliance Coordinator
Shelbie Jamison serves the College of Liberal Arts and its Department of Music as the Retention and Compliance Coordinator. Shelbie began her career in secondary education where she spent five years nurturing and enriching the minds of young scholars in the state of Mississippi as well as Texas.
Band Announcer
Richard Myers serves as announcer for the Sonic Boom of the South. A native of Jackson, Ms. Mr. Myers was a mass communication major at Thee I Love Jackson State University. He’s also been the public address announcer for JSU sports since 1994. He has three children, Richard, Ryan, and Tameri.
Percussion Assistant
Calvin Berry, serves as percussion assistant for the Sonic Boom of the South. Calvin is the founder of "The Master's Touch" Drumline at Our Lady Grace School. Calvin has played percussion instruments and been involved in music since the age of 3.

The most visible ensemble on the campus, is lead together by wonderful leaders working together to bring the spirit of the university the Sonic Boom of the South.
